The stories and contributions of women may be less visible in the rural landscapes of the Cairngorms – but they exist! Join this Storywalk to discover tales of just some of the remarkable women who have shaped Badenoch & Strathspey, from ‘lumberjills’ to high society women to so-called ‘witches’ to adventurers to writers and poets.

Their marks may or may not be left in the land, but their impact and legacies remain with us regardless. How do their lives impact us now, and how are we continuing to shape where we live?

This circular guided adventure over 2.5-3 hours will include wild tea tasting.

Suitable for all ages.

Description of walk
The walk starts and finishes from Feshiebridge (location will be shared on booking), and is around 3.75 miles (6km) long. It goes along wide, rough tracks and narrow footpaths. The route is mostly flat with a few small inclines, and includes a section which can be very exposed if windy. A reasonable level of fitness is required. Dogs on a lead are allowed but only if others booked onto the same walk are okay with this – if you would like to bring a dog please let me know ahead of booking.

What to wear/bring
Please dress appropriately for the weather! In Scotland this usually means warm, waterproof clothing. The weather can change quickly, so please bring waterproofs with you just in case. We will stop frequently on the walk so make sure you will be warm enough. Please wear strong, sturdy shoes suitable for uneven paths (no flip-flops!) and a sit pad/mat is a good idea for when we stop for drinks.
Covid-19: Please bring your own cup if you’d like to try the wild tea.

What I will bring
I will bring wild tea, a bag of tricks, and a smile. I will also have a First Aid kit with me just in case!
Covid-19: I will also bring hand sanitiser.
