Start time: 7pm
Finish time: 8-8.30pm
Meeting location: Dalfaber, Aviemore; more details provided on booking.

Join a short evening stroll to stargaze and explore Scotland’s own Gaelic and Pictish stories of the stars from thousands of years ago. The skies are a rich tapestry of tales of characters and their adventures, from warrior queens to one-eyed giants. (The Gaelic myths put the Greeks to shame!) And we’ll keep warm with a cup of foraged wild tea.

Suitable for all ages.

Note on weather: If the weather is atrocious (gales, sideways rain or snow), the walk will be cancelled and full refunds given. If it’s cloudy but not blowing a hoolie, the walk will still go ahead and we will hope to see stars! Star maps will be provided for cloudy days.

Covid-19 update: This walk is fully outdoors with a small group, and we can socially distance if needed.

Description of walk
The walk starts from the north of Aviemore (location will be shared on booking), and is around 1-1.5 miles (around 2km) long. We’ll follow surfaced tracks and footpaths for the most part.
I can adapt the route of the walk to make it fully accessible for prams or wheelchairs; please let me know in advance.
Dogs are allowed but only if others booked onto the same walk are okay with this. If you want to bring a dog please let me know ahead of booking.

What to wear/bring
Please dress appropriately for the weather! Lots of layers and waterproofs to stay warm, as we’ll be standing still for some of the time. Please wear strong, sturdy shoes or boots. A torch or headtorch will be useful, particularly one with a red light so we can keep our night vision.
Covid-19: Please bring your own cup if you’d like to try the wild tea.

What I will bring
I will bring wild tea, a torch and headtorch, a bag of tricks, and a smile. I will also have a First Aid kit with me just in case!
Covid-19: I will also bring hand sanitiser.
